Mandurah Honed Concrete
Honed concrete in Mandurah — ground back to expose the aggregate with a matte, slip-friendly finish. Ideal for driveways, alfrescos and pool surrounds.
Honed Concrete Mandurah
Honed concrete is ground back like polished concrete but stopped well before gloss, leaving a flat matte or low-satin surface with the aggregate showing. That combination is why it has become the default premium outdoor finish in WA: it looks like polished stone but keeps far more grip when wet than a glossy floor would. Compared with exposed aggregate, honing cuts the stone flat instead of washing the cement off around it, so the surface is smooth underfoot rather than textured. We pour and grind honed concrete Mandurah driveways, alfrescos and pool surrounds, with the aggregate chosen for how it will look once it is cut open.
- Smooth but slip-friendly — Flat underfoot without the gloss that makes wet surfaces treacherous
- Aggregate chosen upfront — The stone in the mix is what you see, so it is selected before the pour
- Grind depth options — A light cut for a subtle speckle, or deeper for full stone exposure
- Can be combined with colour — Oxide through the mix changes the cement matrix around the stone
- Comfortable barefoot — A common choice around pools for exactly that reason

Mandurah Honed Concrete Process
A honed finish is decided at the mix, not at the grinder — the stone has to be in the slab to start with. So the aggregate and the grind depth are agreed before a truck is ordered, because no amount of grinding will reveal stone that was never batched in. We show you samples across the exposure range, from a light salt-and-pepper cut through to full stone. The slab then has to cure before it can be worked, which means a genuine wait between pour day and grind day. The surface is refined to a flat matte and sealed, rather than taken up to gloss.
Aggregate & Grind Depth Chosen
We agree the stone and how deep we will cut before ordering concrete, because grinding cannot reveal aggregate that is not there.
Pour & Cure
Poured with the specified mix and left to cure properly. Grinding too early tears the surface instead of cutting it.
Grind & Refine
Diamond pads take the surface back to the agreed exposure, then refine it to a flat matte or low satin.
Seal & Handover
A penetrating sealer suited to coastal exposure goes on, then we walk it with you and set a resealing interval.
Why Choose Our Honed Concrete Experts in Mandurah
The finish is only as good as the mix underneath it, which is a decision made weeks before anyone grinds anything.
Aggregate specified, not assumed
We choose and order the stone for the look you want, rather than grinding whatever turns up in the truck.
Grind timed to the cure
Cut too early and the surface plucks. We wait for the slab, not the schedule.
Slip resistance kept in mind
Honed is chosen over polished outdoors for grip, and we keep the finish on the right side of that line.
Coastal sealer selection
Sealers picked for salt air, which strips the wrong product far faster here than inland.
